[Day 3] DITP Promotes Thai Halal Food to Global Market Showcasing Products and Potential of Thai Manufacturers at “THAIFEX-ANUGA ASIA 2022”

Nowadays, “Halal food” from Thailand has become increasingly popular among consumers following the growing number of Muslim populations worldwide. Meanwhile, the new generation of non-Muslim consumers also tends to be more health-conscious and have confidence in Thai Halal food and beverages with the manufacturing practices that are strictly adhered to the Islamic principles. It is, therefore, a great opportunity for Thailand to encourage Thai entrepreneurs to develop the potential of Halal products to the international standards, especially in the 5 Southern border provinces which are the primary production base for Halal products in Thailand.

Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, Director-General of Thailand's Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), revealed that in response to the steady growth in Halal food both in Thailand and worldwide, the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) has collaborated with Songkhla Provincial Commerce Office and the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) to continuously build the export capacity of the Halal food and beverage product entrepreneurs. This is in line with Thailand's 20-Year National Strategy on strengthening Thailand's competitiveness through capacity building for business operators, developing new generation entrepreneurs as well as adjusting the business model in response to market demands while seeking to expand trade and investment opportunities on the global stage. This initiative also aligns with the Thailand Development Action Plan with the BCG Economic Model 2021 – 2027, specifically, the Halal Food Entrepreneurship Development Program in 5 Southern Border Provinces for International Trade.

The program consists of knowledge sessions and comprehensive, tailored consultations that cover the fundamental knowledge on export, product development, standard and quality improvement to the international level, marketing knowledge, as well as providing support for market testing and showcasing the products at THAIFEX-ANUGA ASIA 2022 “The Hybrid Edition.”

“The selected Halal food and beverage operators to showcase products in this trade show are the high potential entrepreneurs, altogether 28 companies, bringing their impressive and high-demand products such as processed fruits, processed seafood, products from mushroom, shrimp paste, suki sauce, instant curry paste, snacks, bird's nest products, Tanod palm products, instant coffee, and drinks. The Halal Food Exhibition is taking place at the Booths JJ01-14 and HH01-14 at Hall 10, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, THAIFEX-ANUGA ASIA 2022 “The Hybrid Edition” between 24-28 May 2022. This Asia’s largest and most comprehensive food and beverage trade show is the ultimate connector for food and beverage industry professionals to meet and enter business matching with buyers from all around the world. It is also dedicated to promoting Thailand as the global food hub in response to the “Thai Food, World Food” policy of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit,” Mr. Phusit further added.
