Export sales of Thai food and beverage products worth over 760 million baht after organising an online trade negotiation event, Virtual – Online Business Matching (V-OBM) via the platform THAIFEX-VTS.COM
BANGKOK, 04 JUNE 2021 – Khun Somdet Susomboon, Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), revealed that “According to the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce (Mr. Jurin Laksanawisit) who emphasized on increasing export channels to increase income for the country, the Department has developed and organized online business negotiation activities (Virtual – Online Business Matching : V- OBM) through the platform www.thaifex-vts.com. Between 25 – 29 May 2021, Thai entrepreneurs who have confirmed to join the event THAIFEX – ANUGA ASIA 2021 “The Hybrid Edition”, were able to participate in the successful event, which can make purchases of Thai food products immediately (within 1-3 months) worth 2,845,100 USD or 85,353,000 baht, and the expected order value within 1 year is 22,515,133 USD or 675,454,000 baht, resulting in a total order value of 25,360,233 USD or 760,806,990 baht, this is a new page in the history of V-OBM ever since it was organised.
For this activity, the Department has arranged an appointment for online business negotiations by separating the negotiation date/time by region to suit different time zones in order to facilitate business negotiations where both operators can arrange a time that is appropriate for each country. In which 1,080 buyers/importers as well as business partners and foreign businessmen participated from 752 companies in 77 countries and Thai entrepreneurs from 272 from 200 companies, a total of 653 trade negotiations were made. There were 397 successful pairs. The top 5 countries with the most requests for meetings were 1) Myanmar 2) China 3) India 4) Hong Kong 5) Nigeria. The top 5 product segments are 1) General Food (Fine Food) 2) Desserts & Snacks (Sweets & Confectionery) 3) Drinks 4) Fruits & Vegetables 5) Chilled/Frozen Food Products ( Frozen Food).
V-OBM is a special event under the THAIFEX – Virtual Trade Show (VTS) scheduled to be held from May 25 to October 3, 2021, which is a parallel online event of the physical fair.
