The global halal food sector is experiencing a significant and consistent growth across all regions. According to data from the Innova Platform, while Asia still leads in the number of product launches featuring halal claims, it has been overtaken by Africa and the Middle East in terms of growth rate. Africa has demonstrated an impressive CAGR of +22% from 2018-2022, while the Middle East has grown at +12%. The strong consumer demand for halal products has driven innovation and new launches in regions with a large and/or growing Islamic population.
The Americas and West Europe also witness a noteworthy increase in food and beverage product launches with halal claims, with CAGRs of +13% and +10%, respectively. Although new product launches stagnated globally in 2020 due to the pandemic, they have since resumed their upward trajectory. This growth can be attributed to both the innovations from producers and the growing demand for novel halal products from consumers.
